Turn righty after Grassington, head for Upper Wharfedale, past Kilnsey Crag then split either over West to Malham (via Arncliffe)and eventually Settle (good way to avoid the A65 if heading Lakes way) or East ish up to Buckden and over to Hawes. Tight and nadgery in places but great scenery both ways and no police. Sheep, stone walls, singletrack roads, gravel, blind crest, blind corners all provide enough hazards without the need for bizzies. Sharpens the mind and the intensity of the xperience! Itsahabit, you must be local-ish! So am I.
peteThis route is a great continuation from the B6265 Ripon to Greenhow Hill route or used in conjunction with the B6451 Summerbridge to Otley. There are some great views from Greenhow Hill and some beautiful, very typical examples of North Yorkshire villages. Most corners are pretty good but there are a few to test your nerves. If you feel adventurous and fancy something different, depart from the route just past Cracoe onto the single track lanes (watch out for gravel and wooly/furry animals) through Winterburn and Airton to Malham Cove. A spectacular place to stop and eat your butty! Return straight from Malham (good fun) to the A65 into Skipton- an entertaining diversion.
